Bike holiday mania has had me in its grip since I was a fourteen year-old, setting off around Lake IJsselmeer on my paper round bicycle with a good friend. One of my all-time-favourite reads is a book by Wim Dussel on a group cycling the Bikecentennial '76. This was a coast-to-coast tour across the United States in the summer of 1976, in commemoration of the bicentennial of America's Declaration of Independence. After obtaining a degree to become a physical education teacher, I followed with a short course in tourism. Looking for work in 1992, an employment agency dispatched me to Fietsvakantiewinkel (Bike Holiday Shop) in the town of Woerden. The company happened to be run by Cobi and Gijsbert whom I immediately recognized as two of my heroes in the Bikecentennial’76 book! It was destined to be. It was my first proper job and (with an interval of four years as product manager of bicycle tours at SNP) it’s still my dream job today. In 2000 I took on overall responsibility for the company. Surrounded by a fantastic and inspired team I am full of confidence for the future.

As an 11-year-old boy I went by bike with my father from Deventer to our holiday home on the Lemelerberg. From then on, I was definitely devoted to the bicycle. During and after my studies, as an amateur cyclist, I have already seen a lot of the world by bicycle. After working in the cruise world for 5 years, the opportunity passed for me to be busy with my great passion again in my work: cycling! In a dedicated team I try to compile and purchase the most beautiful trips for you. I cycled myself at many of our destinations, so you have questions, do not hesitate and call or email.

Travelling is a great passion of mine which is why I chose to study tourism. After working at several large tour operators, I joined the small and friendly team at Dutch Bike Tours. I like action-packed holidays myself so this job fits me like a glove. What I enjoy most about the work is the variety of activities and being in touch with people from different countries. Moreover, I like being able to contribute to carefree holidays where people can find out how much fun it is to see the Netherlands by bike.

After finishing my education in tourism, I went to work abroad for six months. After these wonderful months it was time to go back to the Netherlands. Dutch Bike Tours, which is familiar to me because I did an internship there in 2012, had a vacancy at this time. I immediately thought: this is my opportunity. What I enjoy the most is working with different nationalities. I also like to discover which tour suits the traveler the best. When I'm travelling I just love discovering a country.

Since childhood, I have loved discovering the world by bike. First close to home, later with a tent on the back and enjoying the freedom of cycling. Before a trip, I liked to spend many hours over maps to come up with beautiful routes. I still do, only now I write those routes not on paper but on digital maps and take them with me as GPS track on my GPS device. The paper map still goes with me though, as backup and inspiration! At one point, I was able to turn my hobby into my job, coming up with new routes for travel companies, keeping existing routes up to date and making them even more beautiful and providing clients with GPS tracks. After creating their new Amsterdam-Paris trip, I joined DBT (and colleagues from FietsRelax, Belgium Biketours and Fietsvakantie Groningen) in 2018: a small, enthusiastic group of people who want to provide customers with a wonderful cycling holiday in the Netherlands and its surroundings.

With more than 30 years of experience in the travel industry, a large part of which is in the tourist office world, I know that the Netherlands has a lot to offer our visitors. It's great that people from all over the world choose our offer for a wonderful cycling holiday. This way I can also apply my language skills, which are wonderful. The days literally fly by here and the moments when I'm not working, I like to read and work in our garden, English cottage garden style. We like to spend short and longer holidays in our favorite England (James Bond country) with an occasional trip to Switzerland and Austria.

Born and grown up in Florence, ever since I was a child, I had instinct and desire for travelling and discovering new places and different cultures. In 2022, I spent 7 months in the Netherlands for a work experience here at Dutch Bike Tours and fell in love with the country. In September 2023 I come back to stay and became part of the Dutch Bike Tours family. I think there is no better way to visit the Netherlands than while cycling! You experience the country entirely and see it from a different perspective, often finding places away from the beaten tracks not necessarily found when visiting large cities.

In the middle of my Hospitality study, I decided to take a break from the hotel where I worked and find a temporary job. That's how I ended up working at Dutch Bike Tours in June 2022 making travel documents. The agreement was for 3 months, but I enjoyed it so much that I paired my study with Dutch Bike Tours. I have completed my study and now I’m fully employed here. Besides work, I enjoy vacations and going on trips. I especially enjoy going on day trips in my own country and staying in a good hotel. There is so much beauty to see in the Netherlands and I’m discovering more and more beautiful places that I like to share with our travellers.

After 20 years working in the family business, I felt it was time for me for a new challenge. Since April 2023, I am working at Dutch Bike Tours. Talking with customers from different countries in different languages is something I really enjoy. Working with an enthusiastic team to help customers discover the Netherlands by bike is fantastic. I like to spend my free time with family and friends, and I also enjoy sports and you can find me along the line at my children's football games.
