Bike Tour: Veluwe Forest Tour - 6 days

"De Veluwe”is a long ridge of hills covered with forest, heath and Europe’s largest sand drifts. Not only is it beautiful, it’s also of great importance to the preservation of fauna and flora. This cycle tour leads you around the fringes of the forest, following first the shores of Lake Veluwe, then the River IJssel and finally the Rhine. You will also explore the part of the forest known as National Park Veluwezoom. This cycle route will appeal to everyone who enjoys cycling through diverse and beautiful landscapes and looking around pretty old towns which all have their own unique charm and character. On the way, you’ll pass a wide variety of attractions and museums.

reviews

14-06-2015

....We had a great time on the Veluwe Forest Tour, some of our thoughts below: Bikes - Excellent, perfect for touring and we had no mechanical problems at all. Navigation - Generally this was very good, with the numbered route cards working well. There are a couple of small inaccuracies but nothing that wasn't relatively easy to work out. Luggage - the system worked very smoothly.
Hotels - we were pleased with all of these and thought they represented good value (particularly enjoyed the bowling alley at the Princess Hotel in Epe!) Sites - we enjoyed the chance to visit some of the sites along the route (especially the Arnhem Museum). We were cycling in Holland for the first time and were exceptionally impressed - fantastic cycle lanes everywhere and very respectful motorists! Thank you very much as overall it was an exceptional holiday!....

… Hotels....generally they were excellent, helpful staff, comfortable rooms and good food. We had a problem at Nunspeet where we explained to the waitress that we were on half board and also that we wished to drink tap water. On checking out the next morning we were given a bill for €17.70 for bottled water, even though it did not come in a sealed bottle. The Avogaard at Ellecom was superb. We had read some bad reviews and were somewhat worried but it was excellent in every respect, staff friendly, rooms delightful, food outstanding and peaceful grounds. Would be a good place for several nights. So thank you again for the routes and we look forward to the next visit…
